Middle school youth (grades 6, 7, 8) and parent guides meet weekly through the school year for a religious journey of discovery and service which ends in confirmation. On a three year cycle our pastor leads instruction on Martin Luther’s teachings, church history and the Commandments.
Regular Weekly Wednesday Night Classes
6:00 to 7:30 pm
Classes run from September through April
Middle School Ministry begins with supper and time for fellowship. Students have opportunities to participate in community service projects, the annual (MSG) Middle School Gathering in Nebraska, confirmation camp at Camp Carol Joy Holling in Ashland, Nebraska, and other special events.
Middle schoolers serve at Matt Talbot Kitchen & Outreach (MTKO), a faith-based hunger relief and outreach program in Lincoln, Nebraska. They also sing and visit with residents at local care centers.
The Middle School Gathering (MSG) is an event designed for youth 6th-8th grade. The event hosts approximately 200 youth from ELCA congregations across the Nebraska Synod. They gather for service, workshops, music, worship, and all around fun.
Pastors and/or confirmation leaders bring their students to Carol Joy Holling camp and lead just over two hours of class time each morning, enabling the year’s confirmation materials to be covered faster. Students spend the rest of their time (including overnight supervision) being led through life-changing programming experiences by our well-trained college-aged summer staff of Christian role models.
